Founded by Godric Gryffindor, the house colors are Red and Gold. The mascot is a Lion. Gryffindor favors the brave and the bold. Courage is what it takes to become a Gryffindor. The Head of this House is Professor Minerva McGonagal who teaches Transfiguration. Famous members of this house are Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, James Potter, Sirius Black, Lily Evans (future Mrs. Potter), Remus Lupin, Albus Dumbledore, Oliver Wood, Ginny Weasley, Fred and George Weasely (etc. on the Weasleys, 'cause they're all in it lolz)

Slytherin

Founded by Salzar Slytherin, the house colors are Green and Silver. The mascot is a Snake. Slytherin favors pure-blood wizards as well as the cunning and sneeky. Ambition is what it takes to get into Slytherin. The Head of this House is Professor Severus Snape who teaches Potions. Famous members of this house are Tom Riddle (future Voldemort), Draco Malfoy, Lucius Malfoy, Narcissa Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange, Regulus Black, Severus Snape, Vincent Crabbe, Gregory Goyle, Marcus Flint, Pansy Parkinson

Ravenclaw

Founded by Rowena Ravenclaw, the house colors are Blue and Copper. The mascot is an Eagle. Ravenclaw favors the intelegent and the bookworms. A big brain and an appetite for learning will get you a spot in this house. The Head of this House is Professor Felius Flitwick who teaches Charms. Famous members of this house are Luna Lovegood and Cho Chang. (Terry Boot is also mentioned a few times in the books as being a member of this house.)

Hufflepuff

Founded by Helga Hufflepuff, the house colors are Yellow and Black. The mascot is a Badger. Hufflepuff favors the hard-working. If you're loyal and true then you belong here. The Head of this House is Professor Pamona Sprout who teaches Herbology. Famous members are Cedric Diggory, Susan Bones, Hannah Abbott, Justin Finch-Fletchley, and Ernie Macmillan.
